About Meru University

Meru University has a long history, from its early days to what it is now. The University, better known as MUST, was established in 1979 as Meru College of Technology (MECOTECH). Fast-forward to 2008, when it was formally given college status and operated as a substitute college of the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT).

Finally, in 2013, Meru University became an independent university from JKUAT and was awarded a charter by the Late His Excellency Mwai Kibaki.

The Mian University is 15 km from Meru Town along the Meru-Maua Road, opposite the Njuri Ncheke shrine. The University also has a campus in Meru Town and another in Marimba, which is still in Meru County.
