The Kenya Revenue Authority, better known as KRA, is a state-owned parastatal established in 1995 to help streamline revenue collection for the government. KRA is not solely focused on ensuring that Tax revenues are accounted for; the organization also offers employment, internship, and attachment opportunities for all Kenyans. This initiative is mainly aimed at ensuring that Kenya’s job market is filled with young talent.
Good news: As of 2025, the KRA internship application form is already out. Therefore, as an aspiring applicant, staying informed about the deadlines and application process is essential to ensuring that you secure a role with KRA. What is a KRA Internship?
The KRA internship is a government initiative aiming to promote equity in the public service by ensuring that young people are incorporated into various sectors. The KRA internship enables all students and applicants to apply their knowledge and put it into practice in the real world.
The internship program lasts for 12 Months and 3 Months only for those in the industrial attachment and attracts a pay of Ksh 25,00o for bachelor students and Ksh 18,000 for Diploma students. Only successful internship applicants are subjected to pay
KRA internship requirements
The internship application is open to all students and applicants but only to those who are eligible. Therefore, the KRA eligibility criteria are as follows below:
- Applicants must have graduated from recognized institutions in the Country.
- Be aged between 18 and 35 years.
- Must have graduated between January 2023 and December with either a Bachelors or Diploma program.
- Be not employed elsewhere during the internship period.
- Must be available full-time for the 12 months of the whole internship period.
These requirements apply to all advertised disciples except for the Pupillage program, which we have also covered in the article below. If you are selected for the internship, you will required to submit the following documents:
- Proof of a valid Personal Accident Insurance Cover
- Certificate of Good Conduct
- Copies of the KRA PIN Certificate
- SHA (Social Health Authority) Certificate
- NSSF (National Social Security Fund) Certificate
- ID Card (National Identification Card)

KRA internship application process
So long as you have met the requirements and are ready to apply for the internship, you can proceed via the KRA e-Recruitment Portal. Actually, the whole process involves registering on the portal, which you can do by first visiting the link https://erecruitment.kra.go.ke/login and then navigating to Register here. Make sure you follow the whole process and activate your account by checking the link in your Mal inbox.
Now, to apply for an internship via the KRA Career Portal, just follow the Process below:
- Log into the Recruitment portal using the details you provided during registration.
- Once in, navigate to the Applicant Dashboard.
- Go to My Profile and fill out the form using your legitimate information as required.
- After completing your profile, click Employment Opportunities Tabs to start the Internship Application.
- Click Start under Job Search to see available vacancies.
- Click Job Posting to view the job’s full details.
- Click Apply at the top of the page and follow the instructions.
- Fill in all mandatory fields.
- Review your application before clicking Send Application Now to submit it.

To ensure that you are accepted to the program, take note of the KRA internship deadline. Unfortunately, for the 2025 program, the deadline for application was on December 23, 2024.
KRA Pupillage Programme 2025
If you are a lawyer who has completed your undergraduate studies at the Kenya School of Law and wants to advocate for the high court, you need to undergo a Pupillage program. Luckily, KRA also offers this program specifically for law graduates. The program will start in January, but applications are to be submitted before December 23rd, 2024. The requirements are as we have mentioned above, except that you must provide an introduction letter from the Kenya School of Law.
Tips for a Successful KRA Internship Application
KRA is an equal employer for all, and it encourages all Kenyans who are eligible to apply. However, for special as a candidate, you should be aware that the organization receives thousands and thousands of applications, and thus, to increase your chances of being selected, here is what you can do:
- Ensure that you are aware of the Recruitment guidelines and that you have met them
- Register on the KRA career portal on time
- Make sure that you have all the required documents ie academic certifications, your CV, and all that we have covered in the article
