Kenyatta University Profile

Kenyatta University (KU) is one of the Oldest universities in Kenya. Its rich history goes back to 1965 when it was launched as a Kenyatta College to offer secondary and Teacher training in Kenya.

In 1970, following an act of Parliament, Kenyatta University became a constituent t college of the University of Nairobi and transformed its name to Kenyatta University College. 15 years later, in August 1985, the Kenyatta University College became a fully independent university from UoN, offering various  Education, Science, and Arts.

How To Apply

Kenyatta University accepts applications from two categories of applicants: Government and self-sponsored students. Below are the process of making your applications to Join the university:

KUCCPS Placed Students

Government-sponsored students are also KUCCPS students. These are students who make their applications using the KUCCPS portal. If KUCCPS has placed you, you can head over to the KU admissions portal, download your admissions letter, and report with it on the day of admissions at the university

To download your KU admissions letter, follow the process below:

  • Visit the admissions portal at https://admissions.ku.ac.ke/
  • Click on “Students” and then navigate to “admissions letters”
  • On the redirected page, click on the “Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service link”
  • Proceed to enter your KCSE index number and login
  • Once you are in, look for a link to get your admission letter

Self-sponsored Students

Self-sponsored students, on the other hand, are a category of students who join the university without any scholarship or funding from the government. To Make your applications, here is how:

  • Start by visiting the official Kenyatta University website.
  • Look for the admissions link on the homepage of the website and click on it
  • Once you are on the admissions homepage, click on “Apply Now,” and then you will be redirected to the eCitzen portal, where you can start the application process
  • Proceed to login to the portal or create an account if you don’t have one
  • Once logged in, you will be presented with 3 services: Undergraduate Programme Application, Application for ICT Certification Courses, and Postgraduate Programmes Application. Choose the one you want to make the application and continue
  • Provide accurate and complete information in the application form, including your academic qualifications, personal details, and program choices.
  • Proceed to pay the application fee, which is Kshs. 2,000 for a certificate, diploma, or bachelor’s degree, and Kshs. 3,000 for a master’s degree, doctorate, or post-graduate diploma. For international or foreign applicants (non-East Africans), the application fee is USD 50.
  • Once you’ve completed the application form and paid the fee, review all the information carefully and submit your application.
