Kenya has officially Joined nine other African countries in purchasing six Bayraktar TB2 drones from Turkey to strengthen its Borders, especially with the ongoing efforts to counterterrorism efforts against Al-Shabaab.
During the Offical delivery ceremony, a Kenyan senior Government official stated, “The Bayraktar TB2 drones will enhance our surveillance and operational capabilities significantly,”
The delivery follows a successful training program completed by Kenyan personnel at the Baykar Flight Training Center in Turkey, where they honed their skills to operate these advanced uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The TB2 drones feature modern technology, including electro-optical and infrared cameras, which help conduct reconnaissance and precision strikes. They can stay in the air for at most 27 hours and reach an altitude of 27,000 feet, further solidifying their aerial capabilities.
The Bayraktar TB2 has gained international recognition, especially for its significant contribution to the ongoing war efforts in Ukraine and Libya.
