For students who have completed their secondary education in Kenya, anticipating joining institutions of higher learning, whether it is universities or colleges, is a dream that many await patiently. On MARCH 28, 2025, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) opened its portal, giving many 2024 KCSE candidates a chance to apply for different universities and TVET courses with the deadline set for April 21, 2025, after which students can be able to log in the portal to see which insitions and course they have joined after 4–6 weeks from the application deadline.

What Do You Need to Check KUCCPS Placement Results?

Before you continue with checking your results on the KUCPS portal, first, there are requirements that you have to know and meet personally. First, ensure you have your KCSE Index Number and the year you sat for the exam, e.g., 23456789/2024.

Next, you will also need your KUCCPS portal password. By default, this is your birth certificate number OR KCPE Index No as used in KCSE Exam Registration  (if you’ve never reset your password).  Lastly, ensure that you also have stable internet access to visit the KUCCPS student portal and have an airtime of at least Ksh 25 on your phone if you use the SMS feature to check results instead of on the online portal.

How to Check Placement Results via the KUCCPS Student Portal

The Most Reliable and official method you can use to check your placement results in 2025 is by using the students’ portal, as long as you can log in. Below are the key steps involved:

• Start by opening your preferred web browser and navigating to students.kuccps.net/login/
• Enter your KCSE index number (e.g., 123456789012) on the login page in the first field.
• Below this, enter the year you sat for your KCSE exams and proceed to enter your password and press the login button.

After submitting your credentials, you’ll land on your personalized dashboard. On the main homepage, you will see a congratulations message with the university and course you have been assigned to study at the institution. Below is an example screenshot captured from the Portal:

How to Check KUCCPS Placement via SMS

While using the Online Porta is more convenient, there is another alternative you can consider using: the KUCCPS SMS method, which is meant explicitly for those who can’t access the online portal due to internet issues. However, if you use this particular method, just make sure that on your Safaricom or Airtel number, you have at least an Airtime of Ksh 25.

To use this service, open your phone’s messaging app and type your KCSE index number followed by the year you sat for the KCSE exam, without any spaces. For example: and  1234567890122024. Send this message to the KUCCPS shortcode 20842.

KUCCPS Admission Letters download

So what happens after placement by KUCCPS? You will need a KUCCPS admission letter to join any university or college in Kenya. Checking your placement results is one thing, but knowing how to download your KUCCPS Admission letter is essential. The process is not done via the KUCCPS portal, but it is done at the institution where the KUCCPS has successfully placed you.

• To proceed, search for the university website, Moi University, on Google search, and open their official website.
• Most universities in Kenya will require you to have your Digital passport photo, scanned copies of your National ID card, Birth certificate, KCSE result slips, and high school leaving certificates.
• Proceed to log in to your institution’s admissions portal and follow the instructions to access your KUCCPS admission letters.
