I really don’t want to get to the details of a KRA PIN, as I believe that many of us have one by now. But if you don’t have one, it is simply an 11-digit personal identification number that is uniquely issued to every individual taxpayer above the age of 18.
This PIN is usually given to both individuals and businesses. For individuals, the KRA PIN mostly starts with the code “A0…,” while for companies, it begins with “P0…”. How to Retrieve Your KRA PIN Using ID number
The process of retrieving your KRA PIN online, even if you’ve misplaced it, is remarkably simple. You can easily complete it using just your smartphone and the KRA tax portal, which is the same portal you used for your initial KRA PIN registration. Here’s a straightforward guide to help you:
- Visit the official KRA tax portal at https://itax.kra.go.ke/
- Proceed to log in using your credentials. If you have forgotten your password, click on the unlock password link and follow the prompts to create a new one.
- Once you are in, navigate to the “Registration” Tab and click on “Reprinting PIN certificate” in the drop-down Menu bar.
- On the redirected page, under Applicant Type, please select one of the two options ( Agent or Taxpayer) in the drop-down menu and proceed to submit.


Once you hit the Submit message, you will receive a prompt message asking you to confirm whether you really want to submit the application. If you do so, you will receive a notification saying the PIN Certificate has been Generated Successfully and a link to download it on your phone or computer. Open the document, and it will have your KRA PIN.

- You will see two Input boxes. The first will require you to enter your PIN, while the second will require you to fill in the Security stamp Question.
