The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is a leading medical college of choice for many students in Kenya. It was established in 1927 and underwent several reforms, and in 1990, it officially became a state corporation under the Ministry of Health. It started in Nairobi, where it is currently headquartered, but today, KMTC has at least 70 campuses spread in all 47 counties in Kenya that various applicants can apply and join. When it comes to joining the place of learning, you need to understand the KMTC online application portal and how it works. This portal will allow you to join the medical training college as soon as its intake is announced.
Today, technology has truly made strides in how our lives are interconnected. If you are done with your high school education in Kenya and you need to Join KMTC, you do not need to visit its offices in the country; instead, you can rely on its Online application portal. In this article, we will walk you through everything that you need to know.
KMTC Application Requirements
Being a student at KMTC means that you must first meet the eligibility criteria in order to be awarded a particular program for study. The requirements may vary based on the level of study and other factors in place as per the academic year you find yourself in but below are the general requirements for joining KMTC.
Academic Qualifications
Meeting the academic requirements is the most important aspect if you want to Join KMTC. So here is what you need to know. Each course has its eligibility criteria, and you will only be admitted to a particular program if you meet its requirements. So it’s important to always apply for a course that meets its requirements. Failure to do so means you will miss an opportunity to study that program.
The entry requirements require all aspiring candidates for certificate courses to have at least a KCSE grade of C minus and a C for those looking to do diploma courses, both of which consider certain requirements for various combinations of subjects.
Similarly, those looking to upgrade their studies must have relevant certificates in their field of study and at least two years of working experience in their respective fields.
Supporting Documents
During the application process, scanned copies of the following documents will also be required and ready for uploading:
- Your KCSE certificate or result slip
- Your National ID card
- Passport-size photographs
Application Fees
Lastly, each application attracts a fee that students must pay to process their details. As of 2025, the KUCCPS KMTC application fee is Ksh 1500, which can be directly paid using M-pesa.
KMTC Online Application Process
There are two ways that one can apply and Join KMTC. This is done through the KUCCPS portal or the KUCCPS admissions portal. However, you should be aware that KMTC has two intakes in a year, in March and September. It’s during this period that students are encouraged to play for various KMTC courses on offer.
